Long-range UHF RFID readers mounted at the entry point identify registered fleet vehicles at up to eight metres — before the truck reaches the ticketing kiosk. The vehicle identity is logged and cross-referenced with the yard management system, which can automatically assign a bay or loading dock based on the delivery schedule linked to that vehicle.
For sites using ANPR instead of RFID, the same principle applies: plate capture at entry triggers a bay assignment and routing instruction that appears on the driver’s printed ticket, removing the need for a yard marshal to direct each arrival manually. Data from both systems is consolidated into the reporting dashboard, giving yard supervisors a complete view of vehicle dwell times, dock utilisation, and turnaround performance across the shift.
